Halt to Moves for Reviving "Yusin" Dictatorship Demanded

Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- The Workers and Peasants Department of the Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front made public an appeal to all workers of south Korea on Dec. 29, according to the website Kuguk Jonson.
The workers and other people are bitterly denouncing the conservative group for pressing forward the privatization of railway service despite the strong opposition of all people and turning south Korean society into "yusin" dictatorial society where fascism is rampant, the appeal said.
The general strike of workers, an event titled "day of one-million citizens' action" and large-scale action staged with more than 30 000 workers and families involved in Seoul and other parts of south Korea are not only struggles against the privatization of railway service but do-or-die actions against the dictatorial forces and for democracy and vital rights, it noted.
It called upon all people to brand the fascist authorities' barbarous suppression of the struggle against the privatization of railway service as a declaration of the "emergency martial law" in the era of the "yusin" dictatorship and resolutely shatter the moves.
It called for condemning the conservative group's hypocritical commitments full of lies, bringing down the violent regime, which lacks in understanding, through all-people action and leading the action against the privatization of railway service to the action against the "Saenuri Party".
The appeal underscored the need for all people to turn out in the action for resolutely checking and frustrating the moves of the conservative group to revive the "yusin" dictatorship, full of conviction of certain victory and optimism, and thus bring earlier a new democratic society and system where the working people become masters. -0-

DPRK Workers Denounce S. Korean Regime's Suppression of Trade Unions

Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- Workers across the country express towering resentment at the south Korean puppet regime for brutally suppressing the just struggle of south Korean railway workers and other people.
There took place meetings of the employees of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex and the Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory on December 28 and 30 to denounce the south Korean puppet authorities for their brutal suppression of the trade unions and support the south Korean people in their struggle for democratic right, freedom and right to existence.
The December 27 statement of the spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea was read out to be followed by speeches at the meeting of the employees of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex.
Speakers recalled that the south Korea regime hurled thousands of policemen to commit outrage at the headquarters of the Confederation of Trade Unions and walked away more than a hundred persons, adding it is an inhuman act of those who fully revealed their true colors as reckless strangler of human rights and heinous fascist.
The employees of the Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory said the demand for the right to existence can never be an illegal and rash act, branding the fascist repression as serious violation of human rights, democracy and justice and an act of treachery.
Exploitation and oppression are bound to cause resistance, they said, calling upon the south Korean workers and other people to more dynamically rise up in the struggle for frustrating the repressive rule of the puppet regime. -0

Agricultural Workers' Union of Korea Denounces S. Korean Regime's Suppression of Workers

Pyongyang, December 29 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea in a statement Sunday denounced the south Korean conservative regime for harshly suppressing the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and railway workers who turned out in a general strike to defend the right to living.
The fascist crackdown on the KCTU and railway workers is a thrice-cursed barbarous act of violating the elementary right to living and democracy of the popular masses, and an outright challenge to the righteous desire and wish of all the Koreans, the statement said, and went on:
It is impossible to live in peace even a single day with the Park Geun Hye group of traitors left intact as it has been keen on reviving the nightmare-like "yusin" fascist dictatorship through terror-ridden policy under the pretext of security and pursuing unpopular rule after seizing power by dint of frauds and high-handed practices. This is the review made by the people of the one year rule of the Park Geun Hye regime.
Being driven into the extreme crisis, the puppet ruling forces are vainly trying to find a way out in the suppression of the popular masses. But it is a preposterous daydream.
The masses' righteous desire and wish can never be dampened with bayonet.
Fascist dictators going against public mindset and the trend of the times can never evade stern punishment by history.
Workers, farmers and other toiling masses of south Korea who turned out in do-or-die actions for the right to existence will surely frustrate the fascist dictatorial rule and bring about new democratic society.
All the agricultural workers of the DPRK will always extend positive support and encouragement to the broad popular masses including workers and farmers of south Korea in their righteous actions to defend right to existence and democracy. -0-

Happiness of a Family under Popular Policies - The Voice of Korea

S. Korean Police Suppression of KCTU under Fire

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea Friday made public a statement accusing the south Korean conservative group of mobilizing puppet police forces to storm the headquarters of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and brutally suppress workers.
As already known, on Dec. 22 the south Korean puppet conservative authorities hurled more than 5 000 policemen into the operation to arrest leading members of the Railway Trade Union on strike against the privatization of the railway service. They took such fascist action as destroying the front door with a hammer, firing tear liquid and walking off at least 130.
The above-said bloody suppression perpetrated by the police forces against bare-handed workers are reminiscent of the unprecedented massacre committed by the successive military fascist gangsters, the statement said, and went on:
This is the barbarous acts which could be committed only by the descendants of the inhumane "yusin" dictators, who hell-bent on harsh fascist dictatorship, regard tens of millions of toiling masses as slaves of the fascist rule and enemy.
The Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea bitterly denounces the fascist action taken by the puppet conservative group to mercilessly trample down the just demand of the south Korean workers for elementary vital rights and democratic rights and brutally crack down on them on behalf of all workers in the north.
The general strike of toiling masses sweeping across south Korea is an inevitable product of the unpopular labor policy of the puppet group and the moves to revive "yusin" dictatorship.
South Korean people from all walks of life are now turning out in the actions of cursing the ruling quarters who make desperate efforts to pursue the pro-plutocracy policy for privatization, unhesitatingly reneging on election commitments to bring profits to a tiny handful of comprador and monopoly plutocrats in disregard of existence of toiling masses who account for an overwhelming majority of the population.
Those forsaken by the working masses, the master of history, are destined to face disgraceful destruction.
All Koreans will invariably voice full support to the toiling masses of south Korea in their indomitable actions for justice and truth. -0-

UK KFA Trade Union Section Denounces south Korean fascist repression of railway workers

UK KFA TRADE UNION SECTION

          23rd of December 2013
The UK KFA Trade Union section,which includes members of the following trades unions; PCS, Unite , Unity the Union and the RMT , issued the following statement today about the repression of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the South Korean Railway Workers Union;
The UK KFA Trade Union section vehemently and totally condemns the fascist repression of the KCTU and the  south Korean Railways Union .   On the 22nd of December   500 heavily-armed special police officers raided the building to arrest workers involved in ongoing strike action at Korea Railroad Corp (KORAIL). Up to 6,500 members of the Korean Railway Workers Union (KRWU), which is affiliated with the KCTU, have been on strike since December 9 in protest against moves towards the privatisation of the rail  system. 120 trade unionists were arrested by the south Korean puppet authorities and  arrest warrants have been have been issued for 9 trade union leaders . The assault by south Korean police on the KCTU headquarters was extremely violent with windows being smashed and tear gas fired.
The south Korean puppet fascist regime, which just represents the interests of US imperialism and the comprador capitalists has , cracked down severely on the just struggle of the south Korean railway workers against privatisation . Other south Korean trade unions such as the Teachers Union and Government Employees Union have been repressed.
All the above goes to show south Korea is a dark tundra of fascism where working people do not enjoy the right to organise and to defend their living conditions.   The strike of the railway workers is a manifestation of the towering resentment of south Korean workers against the  south Korean puppet regime which seek to reduce workers into slaves of comprador capital and foreign monopoly capital and leave the issue of the livelihood of the toiling masses to the tender mercy of bloodsuckers keen on the unethical competition of capital, and a quite just struggle to defend the right to existence and the democratic right.
he fascist suppression by the puppet regime is reminiscent  of the "Yusin" dictatorship decades ago which earned an ill fame for harsh crackdown on workers. Fascist puppet ruler Park Chung-Hee, the  "Yusin" dictator, suppressed workers to prevent them from forming trade unions.

The UK KFA Trade Union Section expresses its full solidarity with  south Korean workers and their trade unions in their just struggle . We believe that the British trade union movement should do more to expose the repression  of trade unions in south Korea and support south Korean workers in stuggle.

UK KFA Trade Union Section.

Rodong Sinmun Denounces S. Korean Authorities' Crackdown upon Railway Workers

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet ruling forces are brutally cracking down on the railway workers in their strike against the privatization of the railway service.
Rodong Sinmun Sunday carries a commentary in this regard.
    It goes on:
Shortly ago, the south Korean chief executive at a meeting of senior secretaries called for going ahead with the crackdown upon the strike until its roots are completely removed, terming it an unjustified group action.
Gentries of the "Saenuri Party" vied with one another, instigating the puppet authorities to strongly cope with the strike.
Encouraged by it, the fascist maniacs are arresting the core members of the railway trade union, searching their dwelling houses and offices and, at the same time, waging the racket of filing a suit against the participants in the strike and staging the wholesale dismissal of them.
The fascist violence by the south Korean authorities reminds one of the evil acts of the "yusin" dictator who mercilessly suppressed the workers to prevent them from organizing the union and launching a strike while crying out for "industrialization".
The strike of the south Korean railway workers is perfectly just as it is aimed at defending their elementary rights to existence and democratic rights.
But the south Korean authorities branded their struggle as an "illegal strike" at the first consultative meeting for public security after coming to power. They are escalating the crackdown upon the railway workers by mobilizing all the power organs.
This clearly reveals the despicable nature of the puppet forces as the hateful enemy of the people and heinous group of traitors only keen on the maintenance of "power".
The puppet ruling forces hell-bent on the unpopular rule and the revival of the "yusin" dictatorship while making a mockery of the people will certainly be made to pay a very high price for their acts of betraying the people. -0-

North Korea 2013 in Review "People´s dream realized in 2013" [English]

GFTUK Supports S. Korean Railway Workers' Strike

Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) in a statement Thursday expressed support and solidarity with the south Korean railway workers in their just general strike against the puppet regime's unpopular rule.
The statement termed the strike an explosion of the towering grudge against the puppet authorities which seek to reduce workers into slaves of comprador capital and foreign monopoly capital and leave the issue of the livelihood of the toiling masses to the tender mercy of bloodsuckers keen on the unethical competition of capital, and a quite just struggle to defend the right to existence and the democratic right.
The fascist suppression by the puppet regime reminds one of the "yusin" dictatorship decades ago which earned an ill fame for harsh crackdown on workers. Traitor Park Chung-Hee, "yusin" dictator, suppressed workers to prevent them from forming unions and launching strikes while crying out for "industrialization", the statement said, and went on:
Running ski-high now is the resentment of south Koreans of all social standings against the puppet regime's undemocratic and unpopular rule aimed at reviving the "yusin" fascist dictatorship.
The past one year brought home to the south Korean workers the truth that they have to turn out in the struggle to defend justice and truth, regain the dignity and the right to existence and bring about new democratic society.
The struggle for the resignation of the "government" has now become irresistible mindset of the people and the trend of the times.
The present regime will never be able to evade ruin being cursed by the south Koreans just as the "yusin" dictatorship met a miserable end.
The struggle of south Koreans for justice and truth will surely triumph.
All the workers in the DPRK will always stand by the south Korean workers and all other people in their struggle to win the right to existence and democratization of society against the revival of the "yusin" dictatorship. -0-

Refutation of attack on the DPRK by the British modern revisionists-an unofficial commentary

Refutation of attack on the DPRK by the British modern revisionists-an unofficial commentary

The "Morning Star " , which is a faded version of the old "Daily Worker " of Britain (the revisionists changed the name from "Daily Worker " to "Morning Star " in order to distance themselves from the working class and militant communism) , in an editorial  attacked the supreme leadership of the DPRK and slandered the socialist system of the DPRK .
The article  " Schism in north Korea " seems to be a mixture of the "Sun" newspaper and quasi Trotskyite rantings . The "Morning Star" just repeats the lies of the capitalist media about "starvation " etc . The supposedly left wing newspaper  seems to share the concern of imperialism that counter-revolution in the DPRK has been smashed and effectively calls for a counter revolution in the DPRK. We cannot help wondering whether the south Korean puppet embassy slipped the "Morning Star " a few backhanders to print such rubbish about the DPRK ?
The following comments can be made of the article ;
Firstly, there is no schism in the DPRK , it is ridiculous to style a handful of traitors , counter-revolutionary factionalists , a schism . The people are united firmly around supreme leader comrade Kim Jong Un and the Workers' Party of Korea . Moreover the traitor was not the "number two " in the leadership  , this in an invention of the capitalist press and some so-called "Korea experts " (who are in reality in the pay of south Korea and the US ) . The socialist system of the DPRK is a people -centred socialist system of a Korean -style and will not perish. It has survived despite the sanctions and blockades of US imperialism and its followers and all the pressure that they put on it . The DPRK has foiled attempts by the south Korean puppet regime to subvert and destroy by means of terrorism etc . The fact that the anti-party counter-revolutionary faction was smashed and defeated actually shows the strength of the socialist system of the DPRK.

Secondly, dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un and the Workers' Party of  Korea should be praised for their swift , resolute and decisive action against the counter-revolution . Had the USSR taken such resolute and decisive measures against Gorbachov, Yeltsin , socialism in the USSR would not have collapsed .

Thirdly ,  it was the demand of the Korean people that the traitor be executed. Meetings of soldiers and workers demanded that the traitor be put to death. The execution was an expression of the peoples will. It was people's democracy, proletarian democracy in action.

Fourthly, the "Morning Star " resorts to "Sun " and "Daily Mail " lies and  slanders against the DPRK . The 'starvation ' stories have been proved time and time again to be myths but the "Star " rakes them up . Basketball is not simply the personal taste of the supreme leader but is immensely popular with the whole people , as shown in the famous DPRK film " A Family Basketball Team" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8_hbvPjn_E
The "Morning Star " even goes as far to say that living standards are declining in the DPRK when in fact they are going up . In recent years numerous large scale cultural and service facilities have been constructed in the DPRK such as the Rungna People's Pleasure Park, Munsu Water Park , Ryugyong Health Complex one after the other as well new health care institutions such as the Ryugyong Dental Hospital , Okryu Childrens Hospital and the Breast Tumour Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital  . Even the DPRK enemies were compelled to admit that the DPRK was growing faster than south Korea (Businessweek 30 June 2009) and this year was according to some financial newspapers is growing faster than Brazil . The foolish "Morning Star " ignores these facts . In the DPRK housing is virtually free of charge  and health and education are free of charge.Prices are low it is only the equivalent  of 2.5p to use the Pyongyang Metro.

Fifth , the " Star " is factually inaccurate , the traitor was never accused of  trying to form his 'own dynasty' but of trying to create his own empire within the WPK  "He worked hard to put all affairs of the country under his control, massively increasing the staff of his department and organs under it, and stretch his tentacles to ministries and national institutions. He converted his department into a “little kingdom” which no one dares touch.". In other words he was an arrogant big boss figure.

Sixth, the "Morning Star " deliberately distorts the essence of Songun politics. In the DPRK the people's armed forces are under the leadership and guidance of  the Workers' Party of Korea . As the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un  said
" Leadership of the Party is the lifeline of the KPA, and its might is inconceivable separated from the leadership of the Party. The general direction ahead of the KPA is one, that is, to advance straight forward with guns levelled in the very direction our Party indicates. Our arms must serve as an ever-lasting cornerstone that ensures a sure guarantee for the Party and its cause." "Let Us Add Eternal Brilliance to Comrade Kim Jong Il's Great Idea and Achievements of the Songun Revolution" 25 August 2013).
If you see military parades in the DPRK you will see the gold and red flag of the Workers' Party of Korea displayed by army units and fluttering proudly on the top of military vehicles .
Basically Songun politics is fundamentally different from military governments in capitalist countries. The former is a democratic mode of socialist politics administered for the sake of the people, while the latter is an anti-popular, fascist mode of politics as the consequence of capitalist crisis. This difference is rooted in that in ideology and ideal. Songun politics, guided by the Juche idea which advocates the independence of the masses of the people  and countries and nations, can never be compatible with the mode of politics administered by military regimes or fascist dictators based on misanthropy and national chauvinism. The DPRK has given top priority to military affairs and highlighted the role of its army, proceeding solely from the interests of its people and its specific conditions. In other words, Korea has staunchly followed the road of sovereignty, independence and socialism in confrontation with imperialist powers and, in the course of this, the traditions of attaching importance to military affairs were created and eventually the mode of Songun politics has been established in all aspects of life. The Songun idea and Songun politics are essential for the DPRK which is in direct confrontation with US imperialism and the south Korean puppets. The guns of the US army are levelled at the DPRK and it is targeted by nuclear bombs . No doubt the "Morning Star " editor ensconced in a cosy office thinks that the DPRK can defend itself by waving flowers and saying "peaceful co-existence ".

All in all the "Morning Star " editorial is an extreme slander on the DPRK that  simply replicates the attacks of the bourgeois and imperialist media on the  DPRK and its supreme leadership , the article would not be out of place in the "Independent " or "Guardian " or even the "Daily Mail ".  "Schism in north Korea " is a grave disservice of the traditions of the "Daily Worker " which defended the socialist countries and supported the DPRK in the Korean war. Now they have stooped lower than the lowest .

A former "Morning Star " reader and supporter.

British trade unions should reject Amnesty International and disaffiliate from it

Commentary by UK/KFA trade union section -Disaffiliate from pro imperialist Amnesty International ,
Amnesty International is a pro-imperialist organisation that is continuously churning out anti DPRK propaganda on the issue of "human rights " citing shadowy and discredited "defectors " . AI is basically carrying out imperialism's psychological warfare  and propaganda against the DPRK .
AI is no friend of working people and the poor . A CEO of AI was paid £132,000 per year and received a big pay off of £500,000.
Trade unions should reject this pro imperialist reactionary organisation. No trade union members subs should be used to prop up this organisation and fund its propaganda. Trade unions must disaffiliate  from Amnesty !

S. Korean Regime Flailed for Moving to Suppress Teachers Union

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet group of traitors is making desperate efforts to stamp out the Teachers Union.
Shortly ago, the puppet government deprived the union of its legitimate right, charging that it is granting membership to the teachers who were dismissed for calling for democracy against irregularities and corruption. City and provincial education agencies are taking legal actions against the union and there is continued crackdown on its members in different parts of south Korea.
The puppet authorities are contemplating sending back to schools at least 70 members who conducted full-time union activities.
The Jeju Provincial Education Agency dismissed the former senior vice-chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions from the post of teacher on the charge that he spearheaded the general strike of the organization against the import of American beef in 2008.
The Jonju District Prosecutor's Office arrested and indicted the former unification chairman of the North Jolla Provincial Branch of the union by invoking the ill-famed "Security Law".
The frantic suppression of the union is a heinous move to justify the revival of the fascist dictatorship and a blatant challenge to the ardent desire and aspiration of the south Korean people for democracy.
Very clear is the real intention of the Park Geun Hye group when it deprived the union of the legitimate right which the successive regimes had not done for the fear of the public opinion at home and abroad, and set in motion repressive mechanisms to put down the union.
The union is conducting brisk education activities to bring home to the rising generation the truth about the illegal election by the ruling forces, the reactionary essence of their anachronistic moves to distort history and the miserable aftermath caused by the "yusin" fascist dictatorship.
Unset by this, the puppet group is trying to remove the stumbling block lying in the way of maintaining power and trample down the democratic forces in south Korea to build the "yusin" dictatorial system. -0-

GFTUK Supports S. Korean People's Struggle

Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- The actions of workers and people of other strata against the south Korean group of traitors' wholesale fascist crackdown upon the progressive democratic forces and its moves to revive "the yusin" dictatorship are now mounting like an active volcano.
Extremely taken aback by these actions, the puppet group is hurling more than 10 000 police force into brutally cracking down upon participants in peaceful demonstrations with water cannons. But organizations of workers and people of other strata are intensifying their protest actions against this suppression.
A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea in a statement issued on Friday said that the resistance of the people is an eruption of the pent-up grudge and resentment at the remnants of "yusin" and the Park Geun Hye regime working with blood shot eyes to bring back the most evil era of "yusin" dictatorship to south Korea in total disregard of elementary democratic demands.
No repressive regimes in south Korea kicked up such indiscriminate repressive campaign against the labor movement and progressive democratic forces to get rid of the worst ruling crisis, bringing to light their true colors as fascist ones as the present conservative regime, the statement said, and went on:
The south Korean puppet forces have gone desperate in their moves to violate democracy and revive "yusin" dictatorship despite the strong denunciation of the public at home and abroad. This is aimed to nip in the bud progress and democracy in south Korea and thus prop up the pro-U.S. unpopular ruling system and lay a foundation for their long-term office.
It is shame and disaster for the nation that "yusin" dictatorship is being revived in south Korea though it was sternly punished by the popular masses decades ago.
The working class in the north will positively support the workers and other people in the south in their sacred struggle for a democratic new society and genuine new life, it stressed. -0-

S. Korean Worker Commits Suicide

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- A worker of a company under Samsung Electronics of south Korea was found dead in Jiksan township, Chonan City, South Chungchong Province, according to the south Korean paper Hangyore on Nov. 1.
He opened to public the data laying bare the crimes of the manager of the company some days ago in protest against the company side's worsening maltreatment of the workers.
Displeased with this, the company side tormented him, putting all sorts of pressure on him. Not content with this, it watched and inspected him under the pretext of "formation of trade union".
The Samsung Electronics Branch of the Metal Trade Union held that the company side's increased pressure and dire destitution drove the worker to death. -0-

S. Korean Authorities' Moves to Stamp out Jongyojo under Fire

Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet authorities have gone to extremes in their fascist moves to revive the "yusin" dictatorship in south Korea.
A spokesman for the Educational and Cultural Workers' Union of Korea (ECWUK) Saturday made public a statement in this regard.
The statement said:
Some time ago, the puppet Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Ministry of Education took such a tyrannical action as formally depriving the Teachers Union (Jongyojo) of its legitimate status as a trade union under the pretext that it backed the teachers who had been laid-off for conducting just educational activities for democratization of society and kept them affiliated to the union.
According to it, city and provincial offices of education in south Korea started enforcing the "law" to stamp out Jongyojo.
The ECWUK Central Committee denounces the brutal suppression of Jongyojo as an action of suppressing the inviolable democratic education and a hideous fascist action to build "yusin" dictatorial system by eliminating the democratic forces in south Korea.
Jongyojo has made efforts to combat sycophancy towards the U.S. and hostility towards compatriots and achieve social democracy and national unity, conducting education to help the youth and children have a correct view on history and consciousness of reunification after singling out "education for the nation, democracy and humanization" as its programme.
The present chief executive blustered long ago that it is "impossible to leave children to Jongyojo", branding it as "an entity as harmful as a noxious insect". As soon as she took office she kicked off fascist suppression of it to stamp out it.
The Koreans will never pardon the conservative group which suppresses the educators teaching justice and truth and tramples down the inviolable education by enforcing fascist dictatorial rule. The group is bound to meet a shameful fiasco for such outrageous action against the nation and democracy. -0-

South Korean Trade Unions threatened with repression

If your union allowed retired workers, or workers who were fired from their jobs, to be members -- would your government delegalise your union?
That's exactly what's happening in South Korea, where both the government employees union and the teachers' union face the imminent threat of deregistration. The teachers have been given until October 23 to change their constitution or else face delegalisation. This is a flagrant violation of international labour standards and  represents yet another attempt by the South Korean government to break public sector unions. They will not succeed. The Education International, representing teachers unions around the world, together with Public Services International, the International Trade Union Confederation and three Korean unions have called for a massive global online campaign of protest. This is very urgent -- if we don't act, the Korean teachers will no longer have a legal trade union by October 23.Please click here to send off your message today:http://labourstart.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f3995b46c18cb039818f29a32&id=7711801a5e&e=7764de1f7fIf you share this link with your friends, family and fellow union members on email, Twitter and Facebook, it will help spread the word.Let's send thousands of messages today to the South Korean president and let's stop the attempt to crush public sector unions. Thanks very much.

S. Korean Authorities Accused of Suppressing GEU

Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- The Government Employees' Union (GEU) of south Korea held a press conference outside the "government" building in Seoul on Sept. 16 in protest against the puppet authorities' crackdown upon the union.
The speakers accused the "government" and police authorities of committing a search operation against the Kwangju Headquarters of the union on Sept. 10 on the charge of conducting information activities against the Intelligence Service's interference in election.
This proves that the regime's suppression has gone beyond tolerance limit, an indication of suppression of freedom of speech, they said.
Declaring that they would never yield to the government's clampdown, they demanded it stop at once its suppression of the GEU.
They will join civic and social organizations and labor organizations in their strong actions against the regime's illegal suppression of the union, they warned. -0-

S. Korean Police Searches Houses of Those Concerned of Railway Workers Union

Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet police searched houses of six persons concerned of the Railway Workers Union on April 29 on charges of the violation of the fascist "Security Law".
The fascist police committed such violence for the reason that they formed an organization with the "aim to benefit enemy", sought to expand "forces following the north" and manufactured and distributed "copies of literature benefiting enemy", the ones praising the north.
The police stormed houses of those concerned of the union in Seoul, Inchon, Taejon, Pusan and Kyonggi Province and confiscated computers, various documents, cell phones, etc.
The south Korean puppet group is made up of traitors blinded by confrontation with fellow countrymen as it is kicking up hysteria for confrontation with the DPRK by groundlessly linking even the union with the DPRK. -0-

Ssangryong Motors Incident Indicts

"A 30 meter tall transmission tower is charged with a high voltage current. A makeshift building of a little over 2 square meters at the height of 20 meters looks quite cold.
The dismissed workers of the Ssangryong Motors are on stay-in strike there despite the cold of winter. Cooked rice boxes provided by pulley enable them to remain alive for 42 days. There is a good reason why they stage such a struggle."
That is part of a south Korean radio report on stay-in strike of workers of the Ssangryong Motors on a steel tower to mark the New Year.
Then, what made them greet the New Year with a fierce struggle in the cold winter not in hope and delight?
In May 2009 workers of the Ssangryong Motors went on a general strike against the company side's plan to enforce a lay-off.
It was a justifiable struggle to defend their vital rights against the arbitrariness of the enterprising body.
The Lee Myung Bak group, however, brutally suppressed the strikers in favor of the company side seeking only profits.
The group of traitors cut off the supply of food, gas and water for workers and perpetrated a bloody crackdown on the innocent workers on the strength of fascist gangsters heavily armed with clubs, iron bars and electric guns.
In the end several workers were killed and many others were injured or taken in custody.
That is how the Ssangryong Motors incident took place.
The Lee group caused the incident and deteriorated it systematically.
The conservative ruling quarters on the side of a handful of owners of big businesses shifted the blame for the economic crisis onto the workers and encouraged lay-off, mercilessly suppressing the workers resisting to it.
They also charged the workers of their struggle for vital rights and committed a despicable destruction of labor unions.
At the end of his tenure of office traitor Lee transferred the settlement of the incident to the next regime, pretending that he is not answerable for it.
The Ssangryong Motors incident shows that it is foolish to want something from the puppet conservatives, servers of big businesses and the south Korean workers should resolutely put an end to the misrule of the traitors if they are to lead a worthwhile life.

Actions for Vital Rights Declared in S. Korea

Pyongyang, January 12 (KCNA) -- The Emergency Situation Council for Urgently Coping with Lay-off, Part-time Job and Destruction of Trade Unions in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on Jan. 4 at which it called upon all to turn out in the actions for vital rights. The organization comprises workers, peasants, civic and public organizations and opposition parties.
At the press conference speakers recalled that five workers died in south Korea in just a few days at the end of last year.
But the authorities have not yet discussed any measure for guaranteeing vital rights, they charged.
Many people are being killed due to the authorities who treat the people as slaves, not human beings, they deplored.
Vital rights can be won only through actions against the authorities' unpopular rule, they said, adding:
That was why martyr Jon Thae Il committed suicide more than 40 years ago in protest against the authorities' policy against workers, shouting "We are not machines" and "We want to live as human beings."
They declared they would rise up in an all-out action if the authorities continue destroying trade unions, refusing to meet the demands for the abolition of lay-off and part-time jobs. -0-
